I am in the process of testing our Access 2007 databases for compatiblity with Access 2010. So far - all seems to be working well. All users are using Access 2007 until testing is complete EXCEPT for 1 user who is using 2010 (yes - there is always one!) FYI....I have a SQL backend - using Access for frontend.

Here's the issue:
If 2010 user opens the database first and then the 2007 users - all works well.
If the 2010 user tries to open the database AFTER the 2007 user - then the following error appears:
"You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. If you preceed to make changes, you may not be able to save them later."

I'm not sure why this is happening...any ideas?

When a later version of Access opens an earlier version, it generally makes a copy of all the objects (not tables) compiled in it's own format in a hidden space in the file. Sounds like something is happening that is locking or changing these objects. Which also means you are sharing a frontend file as opposed to having it on each client which is not recommended.
