Hi,

Just yesterday I opened a report and clicked refresh. The following message came up:

"The database table "<table name/view" cannot be found. Proceed to remove this table from the report?"

I ran this report late last week and it worked fine.

I have done a show view in my database and the view is there.
I have done a show table on the one table that's accessed by the view. Nothing has changed.
I have checked our DBC tables for information on the table and view - they were all created / last modified months ago.
Both the view and the tables reside in a database created by my login. And I login when running the CR report with my login.

I have seen other postings on the Internet about this issue being a bug in CR 9 and in CRE V10.

I designed and am currently running this report with CR V10 Designer. Over the weekend I installed CRE V10. So I will eventually be moving the report onto that system.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix my PC using Designer V10?

Anyone know how to fix CRE V10 (I expect to find the problerm there also)?

Thanks in advance.

Click on database, confirm database and see if this makes a difference.

I forgot to put that in the original message I can do a verify database and it responds with the message:
The database is up to date"

Another thing I found is that I can't use the Set Datasource Location functionality - I attempted to use this to remap the view and I get the messages:

"Data Object cannot be opened/accessed."
followed by:
"Unknown Database Connection Error."

I did another test with a different report that hits a different view then the one that I'm experiencing the problem described above. In this view I did modify the view by adding a new column. When I open this report it tells me the view is changed and asks me if I want to proceed with fixing it. I say yes and the new column doesn't appear in my available list of fields. If I do a verify database after that it works. But again the column is not available.

I have been using CR v10 and I've been talking to CR support about this. They had me install 4 service packs that did not nothign but break the PDF export functionality. So I reinstalled CR V10 from scratch without the service packs hoping it might clear up the view problem I'm having. It didn't all it fixed was the PDF export functionality. This leads me to believe the problem is with my ODBC driver hitting our Teradata database or the report has become corrupt.

I also installed a trial version of CR v11 thinking that might fix the problem. No luck same exact errors.

As I said earlier I have an open incident with CR support but I'm posting out here in case anyone has any ideas or can help.

Okay, I had this exact same thing happen when I updated from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal 10, and it really stumped me at first. It had to do with Crystal saving the location of the "favorites" databases in 8.5 without remapping the datasources in 10; I at first thought I could fix this by remaking the ODBC connections in Windows, but that didn't do the trick, so I needed to go through and reset them in Crystal.

Here's what you do...
Go to the "Database" menu
Select "Set Datasource Location"
In the top pane, select the top level database.
In the bottom pane, don't select that database in current connections, favorites, or history. Instead, go down to "Create New Connection" and re-add your database their.
Once that is set, select the top level database in the bottom pane.
Now click "Update".
You can close this Window, and the next time you select "Verify Database" you should be all clear.
I think it would have definitely been better for Crystal to have removed our favorites all together rather than left them in there only to cause hard to solve errors.
Anyway, let me know if this works for you.
