I have 2 MXe3300 4.2 controllers. 1 is the primary the other is the secondary backup. We are preparing to do an upgrade to 7.2. We see that both units have a Major alarm of "Database Status Major Unavailable 100%" also in the Header they both have Group "System Defaulted" Alarm Status Major. Both these controllers have the same Database as far as Exts except for 2 exts that are not on the 2nd controller. We had several thousand SDS Shared Data Updates errors (17000+) and a minor alarm. These were due to the 2nd controller not having VM. We cleared these and the minor alarm is cleared. My general question is " How do we proceed to clear the two major alarms to prepare for the upgrade?

If both have no alarms, the group isn't really in alarm. You can go in the SNMP form and disable and re enable and this should clear your group alarm. It is under system administration, 3rd down within the category view group from memory

Both Controllers have a Major alarm of "Database Status Major Unavailable 100%". Will using the SNMP form affect the alarms if they truly do exist? From what I am reading that there may be a corrupted database.

Run Maintenance command - DBMS Check Full

Note any errors - most common error is a view error on key programming

If errors, backup and restore.

If lots of errors, call Mitel

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Got a hold of Mitel Support. We had to do a backup and restore on both controllers. Alarms are cleared.
