I'm in a local branch office and I'm the designer (yeah right) for a database that is in our Corporate office. They (corporate) would like all branch offices to utilize the database. I have enough trouble working with the database from here to there (copying front-end over and such). things take an incredibly long time and i work on it mostly at night to reduce possible traffic issues with other users. We are on a novell network and our it staff isn't the hottest when it comes to things like working with databases, webpages and such. Pretty much right now they are having a hard time keeping the network running between 10 offices.

My question is - what would be the best way for me to deploy this database across the 10 offices? Anythoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it doesn't sound like you have any Access "experts" around and your IT department probably has no idea of how to support DAP's XML. You can either spend all your time learning DAP's or ASP or some such thing for the next year or so or you can suggest to your boss to set up a citrix server ( This way your users can login remotely anytime they want to a single Access database. Obviously, this would require alot less work and time (which you probably don't get paid for) on your part.
Also, what do you mean by "utilize" the database? Are they just looking at data? Or are they actually doing data entry?
If they're just looking at data, creating their own forms, reports, then place a copy of the database on their local computers and just email them once a week or so a database with updated tables which they can copy. This can be automated.

thanks for the reply. I'm going to look into the citrix server. The users will be doing actual data entry into the tables. I would do the e-mailing thing but the boss wants to be able to see realtime data on his end whenever he wants.

I've got some coldfusion background and i'm the company's webmaster (which takes a lot of my time keeping the website and extranet running) i don't really have time to recreate the wheel with the database which is what i would have to do to get everything to function the same as the app i built.

Again, many thanks for the response....i'm off to check out citrix.
