Ok, I've successfully installed GP 9.0 on the server and run GP Utilities to upgrade all the databases. Ran GP 9 on the server and logged on as the administrator and as another user (thankfully that worked - didn't work in test upgrade). Seems ok so far...

Ok so I install the client package (from an install template created from CD1), and try to log in (as anybody - administrator gets the farthest). I select a company to log in to and receive the error "The database setup has not been completed for Microsoft Dynamics GP...", and that I need to run GP Utilities.

I've tried running GP Utilities, but there is nothing for me to select to get it to run - I've hit the "Launch Dynamics" button, and still run into the same error. I only ever encounter the error on client machines over the network. I've checked the ODBC connection property the ANSI checkboxes are NOT checked.

Any ideas on how to fix this? If not I'll have to revert the database back for another week, so that the system is accessible until I can get a successfull upgrade on another weekend.

Ok - I've reverted the database back so we can use it this week.

I think I may know what caused it. We don't use the Manufacturing module - so I didn't install it on the server.

All the client machines were installed using an install package created from the first disk, and I must have inadvertently chosen the Manufacturing module when creating that install package - so all the clients had Manufacturing install, and the server didn't. This is the most likely cause.

I will be trying another update when I can - this time with the correct modules installed on the client, and hopefully this time it will work.

Yes, removing the Manufacturing module from the clients did work (after upgrading again), but I ran into other problems on some of the client machines (SmartList results empty, ODBC errors, reports not working, etc...) - so I had to revert back again.

I've been given permission to get our Var to do the upgrade for us, so I no longer have to worry to much about it.
