I have a database program that uses an autorun macro to start the switchboard. This database is set up to scan barcodes with a barcode scanner. When I use the autorun to start it, after I scan the barcode, it gives a run time error, however, if I open the database manually and try to scan, it pops up a security warning. After oking the macros, scanning works fine in both modes. (autorun and manual.)

Here is the problem. This database is getting distributed to customers around the US and I will not be able to change security settings on every computer it gets installed on. Can someone give me some ideas on what I can do to solve this?

Thanks!

Can you give some details on both the runtime error and the security warning you receive?

the macro security check is a part of the windows native sandbox mode and can only be switched off per windows...

however you can distribute a script to disable sandbox along with your database...

The runtime error occurs after I scan a barcode and says, "Execution of this application has stopped due to a run-time error. The application can't continue and will be shut down." All it has is an ok button and when I click ok, the database closes.

The Security warning says, "This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this file or cancel the operation?" and it has the Cancel, Open or More Info buttons.

Once I click open there, I can scan barcodes in the autorun mode as well as when I open it manually.

Thanks!

Well, I checked out these areas and found a couple of things with the suggestions you gave me. Then I found the database was created in Access 2000. I converted it to 2003 and that solved the issue. The security warning comes up, but I click on open and works correctly.

Amazing that something so simple would solve the issue...

Thanks for your help rjoubert and Crowley16!!
