hello all,

Is it possible to restore an Oracle 10g Database when the recovery catalog is lost?
The database was backed up with rman and the controlfile is in the backupset included.
How can i access the backupsets now?

thanks in advance

Try looking into the CATALOG rman command. [3eyes]

You are probably ok. The control file backup contains a record of all the backups that existed when the control file was backed up. Furthermore, in Oracle 10g it is possible to catalog and apply backups that are more recent than the control file backup. Please take a look at Metalink note 372996.1 for details.

thanks,

it worked! it was just an test but now i now what to do if a scenario like this happens;)
i´m prepared now.

kind regards

Have a star for taking the trouble to test recovery scenarios before disaster actually strikes. You would be surprised at the number of DBAs who are very conscientious about running regular backups, but haven't tested that they can actually recover from the backups.

thank you very much guys.

It´s better to be prepared for a scenario like that, rather than thinking about it when it´s allready happened.

regards
