Hi,

I am trying to install standby server. Everything is going well but when i try to restore active server database on standby server, it takes more than 5 hours. The database size is 450 Mb.
Did i make a mistake? Or is there any way to increase the restoring speed?
for information, backing up the active servers database is taking my 33 minutes for 450 Mb.

Thanks for your helps....

My system is currently doing the same thing. I was wonder if the process hung up.

I find that the first time I restore a database it does take an exceedingly long time. I think this is down to Nortel structuring the data as it gets restored. If you then do a subsequent restore it is much quicker.

An example of this was a recent install. I did a preparation install and the database took 3 hours to rstore. When I came to do the cutover, the new restore took just over 40 minutes.

Are you all using tape drives....I have not seen this problem, but I always have used network backups and restores?

i am using network backup. But i don't think that it is a network problem. Because when i try to copy or move any file, it is very fast.

that does seem to be slower than it should be..

Most problems are bottlenecks in network, CPU/Memory, etc.
