Hello All,

How often should one restart/recycle the production database and listeners.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of above.

Please note that this recycle is done during non-peak period.

Thanks in advance for you input.

Hi,
How often should a person get a physical?

It all depends on the individual circumstances - the same with a database..

What platform?
How heavy is database usage?
How often is the data updated/modified?
How critical is the data and how timely does it need to be?

Where I worked we did nightly data backups ( through exports) and shut down every other week for cold backups and to reboot the servers ( They were Windows-based so regular rebooting is always a good practice, even if no problems )
- but that was OK for us, your situation may ( and probably will) differ.
