I'm putting together a technical memo on the advantages and disadvantages of different Desktop DBMS for a client. Could anyone please post (briefly, not interested in reading a dissertation, just a few quick points) the strengths and weakness of the following:

Visual Foxpro (my favorite)
Access
Oracle

Thanks

Access - a 'power users' database management tool

visual foxpro - a true developers tool, used with native data is as fast or faster than data servers or used as client/server thru odbc/ado to data source. local data or 'views' can be 'upsized' to oracle or sql server leaving vfp as a front end or middle or n-tier typically for business rules

oracle - back end data server, robust, secure, scalable, etal - serving data as the back end of an n-tier structure

Btiefly you said. HTH
John Durbin

Thanks. That was what I was looking for. Glad I was directed to this forum

Let me add with lots of indexes and a seek with a do while you get instantious results. Much faster then SQL. Disadvantage 2 gig file limit.
