We have a database that has default open mode set to shared but when second user logs in they receive message saying that database is read only.
We have checked server folder access rights and users are all set correctly with read/write permissions.

Does anyone know how to ensure that database always open in shared mode?

Hi!

I am not sure what is happening here but one possibility would be that a form, table or report is in design mode. If that is the case the Db will open read only for anyone else.

Hi

"read/write permissions"

users need read/write/create/delete permissions to enable them to create the lock (.lck) file in the same folder as the mdb file(s)
