Database moved without being shut down

An 8.1.6 database was moved from one drive to another without being shut down and we are now having problems with some tools that another application uses to interact with Oracle.

I'm assuming some corruption was introduced into the database when it was moved. Does that sound likely? Is there any way to clean up the corruption?

Sorry to ask what is probably a very elementary problem, but I am getting a little deeper into Oracle than I normally have to.

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

What do you mean by "an 816 database was moved"? Are you only referring to a couple of datafiles or does this also include the oracle home? Is this on NT or unix? Is the database running now?
