I have a table in MS Access 2007 which is about 2 GB size

I had deleted that table and all its corresponding tables, forms , queries
Currently the database is blank

But still the database is displaying that is about 2 GB of size and
it is not able to import any external data which is of about 500 MB of size
I get a message that the file is of too large size

Could some one suggest a cause for this and a possible remedy

thanks

Did you try to compact the DB ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

The cause is that the limit of the MDB and ACCDB file size is 2Gb. Ie the total of tables, queries, forms, VBA modules, macros etc must be 2Gb or less. I'd look at the file in windows explorer to see how big Windows thinks the file is.

If you delete items, run Compact and repair database to shrink the database.

Can I ask - do you store binary data in the file (graphics, pdf files, word documents etc)? or is it that there are just huge quantities of data within the database.
