I was told that the Avaya Release 5 can activate a database using the caller id informaton. What I want to know is how can I have the customer record pull from a database when the customer call in?

John

Hi John,
Avaya has a CTI team for that purpose. I haven't had a chance to call them yet. Why don't you post the question at support.avaya.com?

Hi John ,

I just saw your question that sounds very interresting . Did you get any answer , or found a solution?

David

There are a couple wildcatters out there who have created software that does this very well for cheap. The way it works in a nutshell is the CID is gleaned from the SMDR output and sent via LAN to your PC, which interfaces with ACT! or Goldmine to give you a screen pop with the account data.

Worst case scenario, Passageway for Partner works okay on a small scale. Docs are at support.avaya.com .

You also need a new product, called SMDI, or Station Message Detail IMMEDIATE, which is a PC card that spits out the CID info through the SMDR port at the start of the call. This can then be interfaced to your database application.

Hi TouchToneTommy,
I've read a little about that. Is this a PC card that fits in the ACS processor?
-Chris

Yes, from what little info I have seen, it is a PC card that goes in next to the backup/restore card, and must remain in place, not just a software upgrade. Then you must go to a third party vendor for integration to your database.
