Im still trying to get reports to run through Eportfolio. When i click on a report, I get a screen asking for database logon. I have tried my SQL SERVER database logon account, my admin NT account, and neither will work. What logon are they asking me for here?

Hi,
That prompt is for the Database used as the source of the data - the same one as used when you designed the report - ...It can, and probably should, be set in the CMC under the Database tab.

If it is correctly set and you still get that prompt, then be sure that the Pageserver and JobServer services are running under an account that has permission to access the SqlServer location.

Turk,
Thanks ! Follow-up questions... in order to be sure an account has access to the SQL server location, it should just be a member of administrators group right? Also, the report is one that came from an installation of CR8.0 so the server name is wrong. Since I have a clustered server, my SQL server is virtual and the shared storage is a virtual server. DO i need to enter the SQL server as the servername, or the cluster name, or the actual server name? I'm very confused as to what is logging onto what in CE so far.

First let's take Crystal Enterprise out of the picture and concentrate on SQL Server.

What version of SQL Server are you using? Is it listed in the platform.txt?

Depending on the version of SQL Server you are using, it comes with three types of security. 1) SQL Server, 2) Mixed or 3) Windows NT.

When you create a database make sure you create a login account as well as a user of the database. Once you have done, assign the user account as the DBO. Assigning with DBO permission allows the user account to have read/write permissions of just that database.

Through the ODBC Administrator, when you add a new system dsn and selected SQL Server driver, in one of dialog boxes, "Which SQL Server do you want to connect to?", a drop-down list of SQL Servers should appear. If none appears then there is a problem with the networking client of SQL Server not working. If some servers appears, the select the correct one.
