I'm using Crystal Server 2008 and I'm getting :"the database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect" when I attempt to run reports on a seperate sevrer. It worked fine when server and the Access db's were on the same system, but now that they're on different systems, I get the :"the database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect". I looked at the server list (job server, dest. server, etc.), but they don't have the "account" in the properties. So I'm assuming the issue is that CS is using a local account to access the db folder, but where do I change the login account in CS 2008 and will it be the same syntax "\\domain\user"?

I added the System DSN for Access and mapped it to the folder with the db. I also used the default "Admin" with no password to access the Access database.

Any other ideas??

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Look at how you have the ODBC setup done. If you are going to a SQL server,, make sure id and password are good. I had a similar problem going to a DBF, database, that was a real bear,, because of everything using "default", accounts.

Thanks for the reply!! I'm using an Access database. My Oracle database works fine because it steps you through it and that database has a user and login credentials. The Access database doesn't have a user or password. The Help function says that the defualt for Access is Admin with no password.

Thanks again

I am having the same issue connecting to sql server database. This has been problem for quite sometime.

developed report in CR XI Release 2, published to CMC, went to process updated parameters and under database entered userid and password and under view report selected same as database logon and after updating this info went to preview the report gives the erros incomplete logon info.

i am not sure what else i have to do to get this working.

any ideas???

Oracle and SQL Server have actual logins to authenticate you when you open that actual database. However, you don't have to log in to get to an Access database.

Hi,
Be sure the SIA is running under a DOMAIN account not just a local admin account...This controls the access rights that the services have and to access the remote file system and database it needs to have those rights set to a sufficient level.

Hi,
It is the
ServerIntelligenceAgent
which CR Server uses to control all the services ( page, job, etc) - it replaced the CCM ( Crystal Configuration Manager) used in other versions ( BOE, CE, etc)

This info from MJRBIM should help:

The Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) has taken over the Management of the individual BO "Services" from CCM in the 3.0 / 2008 release.

If you go into the broser-based Central Management Console (CMC) - and click on SERVERS you should be able to manage the PROPERTIES to change COMMAND LINE settings, etc - as you used to do in CCM.

I'm not 100% on this...but I would assume that since the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) now "runs" all the individual BO "Services" that is where you need to set-up your network-account access...which is then applied to all it's "children".
It is from this related thread:

The SIA uses a LocalSystem account, but it's grayed out so I can't change it. How can I change it to a domain account? Was this an initial configuration that I looked over during installation?

I got it!!!! Stopped the SIA and changed it to a domain account and the reports are running!!! Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
