Database Logon, I'm New to Enterprise

I've imported a Report from 8.5 into enterprise, but when I try to view it, I'm getting asked for a database logon. Nothing seems to work as a logon, my ODBC connection seems to be set up correctly. Why is it asking for a logon? There's very little security on the database, and I've tried all the user logins and passwords that have an entry in the database.

How did you import a report into CE?

CE requires that you set the database connectivty at the time that you import it, and whatever connectivity you've used in the report must also exist on the server, for instance an ODBC connection.

To set the database user and password, go to the Crystal Management Console (CMC by going to the URL for the server, as in:

server>/crystal/enterprise/launchpad/en/default.htm

Log in and select manage object, find your report and click on it, then set the Database and Parameters as required under their respective tabs.

Thanks, synapsevampire (where did you come up with that name?)
I used the Crystal import wizard to import the report. I've also went and try all possible entries in the database management section, still no luck. I've never had to enter a user name or password in to connect to the database before. I really just don't understand why I'm having such a problem with the connection. My connection is set up the same as the one that I'm using for CR8.5 on another machine. Everything looks like it should work. I really dis-like computers when they don't do what their told$%&#@.

This is the exact problem that I am having....anyone figure out how to fix this for the newbies? Thanks!

Hi,
What database? Can you access the database from other tools on the CE server?

Does the Page Server run under an account with sufficient
rights to the database's directory?

Hello,

I am using Crystal enterprise to connect reports to Oracle without any problem. However when trying to connect to an access database, using ODBC, I am getting a login and password prompt whenever the report is run.

When I take the access database and run it on the same server as crystal enterprise it works fine...but it is failing when the access database is on a different server.

Really the login prompt is bogus because it doesn't register any login and continues to loop through login boxes until I cancel out of the report.

All help would be appreciated.

Hi, It is looping because it never gets any confirmation back from Access, since it is not finding it..

Be sure that the account that is running your Page Server and Job Server ( at a minimum) services has permission to access ( no pun intended) the server/directory where the Access database is located..

Also, how are you letting Crystal know where the Access database is..Are you mapping a drive letter?

Try this:
Open the report from the Enterprise Folder using CR, click
on Database..Set Location and see where it 'thinks' the Access database is located.

Thanks. As it turns out Crystal needs the ODBC connection to use a unc path instead of a mapped drive letter. When we changed the config on the odbc connection to a unc the report worked.

Thank you for your help.
