Database insert and mail from one form

Is it possible to send information obtained from a form directly into a database and forward it also as e post at the same time when i click on submit.At the moment my form as to be filled out twice for this to work.Would be grateful for any suggestions.

yes it can. Have the form submit to itself (so in the action you put the name of the file). Create some sort of flag so that if the flag is not true, the form gets filled out and if it is true, it does the insert into the db and sends the e-mail.
