hi, i imported my microsoft access database into front page and then created a page based of a query. the query performs a search through the table for whatever values entered in. but it doesn't once i created the web page based off of the query. could somebody please tell me how to fix this to where the web page works just like my query and peforms the search through the table?

thanks a lot

I think database capabilities are dependent upon your hosting co. also.

Did you import the query language from Access, or write it yourself on your webpage?
If you imported it, be sure that there is no extra wording after the semi-colon on the query language.
If you used the criteria wizard, be sure used the proper language and typed the variable in the right way.
One quick thought is to look at your page with the HTML viewer, and see if the query language look strange. (Missing letters, etc.)

Thank you for replying drowland.

I imported the query through the front page database wizard from microsoft access.. it seemed easy enough.. but when the wizard is done.. and it tells me to save it as a .asp file, the page just doesn't work. in the preview you see the text boxes where you can enter in your searches (although already inside those boxes are some formulas.. don't know how to get rid of them or why they show up) but when you type in the boxes and then submit to search, an error comes up (the usual microsoft intenet explorer saying cannot find page).
i have no clue what to do now.. tried everything, read the help inside and out probably 4 times by now.. atleast.

if i could just get anything normal imported from access to work, i could probably learn what to do from there.. but even when i import just a plain table from access into front page, the final page doesn't display the table.. maybe i am missing a link here or something.

thank you

By the way.. in the source, this is what the tag looks like for one of the text boxes:

<td><input TYPE=&quot;TEXT&quot; NAME=&quot;Name&quot; VALUE=&quot;<%=Request(&quot;Name&quot;)%>&quot; size=&quot;20&quot;></td>

i think there's an error somewhere inbetween the VALUE= and the size= but i don't know really.. i think there's an error because on the page view, inside the text box itself shows up <%=Request( and then it's blank after that inside the box.. but then right outside the box to the right says size=&quot;20&quot;>

so, yeah.. i'm still messing around with front page trying to get my search going.

thank you
