We have a database file which doesnt seem to want to open. It just gives my the spinning rainbow and never opens, which leads to force quit. Our server was unexpectadley shut down and I believe corrupted the file. The wierd thing is that even when i recover old versions of the file from a harddrive backup the same thing happens. This is a very important database and we are in need of it any help in opening it or resolving this issue is appreciated

How about some more info.

1. What FM version?
2. What OS?
3. Are you running FM Server or is a regular client copy of FM hosting the file(s)?
4. Is there only one bad file?
5. Is the bad file related to any other files?

FM 5.5
FM Server 5.5
OS 10.3.3
Only the one bad file
and i believe it is related to our main database

ztothaizzo,

I'm sorry but I'm not going to be of any help. I haven't touched an Apple machine in over 10 years and even then it was only as a user.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe sharing got turned off somehow. I don't remember 5.5 well enough to tell you where that might be.

Hopefully someone else might be able to help. You could also check out some of the other Filemaker discussion boards. Tek-Tips is not the most active Filemaker board.

Thanks for the advice. Ill check elsewhere

Thanks

Paul
