Database error on starting RES

I think,I may have screwed up. I kept the default C:\MICROS\Database\Data\Backup and ran the backup.
i think it completed as the last line was saying database rotate complete. Stayed there for a while and I exited out.
Now my RES will not start. It says "OPSDBS.cpp (10304), Unexpected database error. Standalone not allowed. click OK and says cannot load DB from server.
Click OK and says: No communication with database server, Enter server backup mode.

I restored the DB file and seems to be working.
