I'm using Arcserve 2000 with BAOF on a windows 2000 server. Recently, the arcserve database engine is randomly stopping...the event viewer doesn't mention anything. Does anyone have any ideas? I used this software for months with no problems.
Check for a drwtsn32.log file. If you have one check the bottom to see if an exception is occuring on the PID # that relates to dbeng.exe or rds.exe. If this is occuring there may be a problem with the code and CA may need to be contacted to see what is going on.
If you are using SQL as your database, then the Database Engine may be losing contact with the server. There are registry keys some place under "HKLM \ Software \ ComputerAssociates \ ARCserveIT \ Base" that you can use to modify the heartbeat timeout and such. I don't know them off hand, but you may be able to find them there with a little leg work.
