Database Corruption

I have a Program .mdb and a data .mdb with the tables linked from the program .mdb to the data .mdb. The Access 97 system is an multi-user Order processing application and is running on Windows NT4 Server, service pack 6, with 4 workstations. Every day, about 3 or 4 times the data .mdb has to be repaired as the system reports that the data .mdb is not a valid database. After repairing the data .mdb everything works Ok.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this corruption would be appreciated.

Microsoft will tell you that it is due to someone improperly closing Access, i.e. the program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

We have also noticed a problem with our 2 Win2k machines on the network. They seem to always be the ones that corrupt the database.

There is a utility program available from Microsoft called LDBView. It will tell you which machine caused the corruption in the database. I would download this program and see if a pattern develops as to which machine causes the corruption and go from there.
