Database Connection Exceeds

There are some reports whcih generate huge data and so takes some time to execute and return the results on web. Each report establishes one session with the database(Oracle here) . Now this causes numerous sessions and thus makes the processing on the database slow.
How can this be controlled.

Push the crystal report logic from the presentation layer to the database layer by authoring stored procedures, which in this case means PL/SQL.
