I have been tasked with finding a way to eliminate the need to pass the database password as clear text to the crystal reports in a VB 6 applicaiton. They do not want to upgrade to a newer version of Crystal at this time. I know it is done in Crystal for .NET.

You can create recordsets within VB and pass them to Crystal, as with TTX files, then you don't pass any database info to Crystal itself:
