Database and netowrk

I want to have a Standby database on a remote location.
how much Should be by network bandwitdth.
I know it depends on lot of factors .But Where can
i find some material on this.I mean How will the redo logs
size depends on the transaction of the datbase.
What is the best way for replication.
Any help will b appreciated
