The database works fine at home and on other computers with Access 2000 but I get an error "Unregonized database" when I try to open the database with Access 1997.
Thanks for your help I assumed that was the problem. Would it be possible to write the database in access 1997 (work version)and convert it into Access 2000(home version)?
Yes, you can convert 97 DB to 2000, but then you still will not be able to open the converted DB in 97. One thing you might try is create all the tables in a Access 97 file, then you can link the tables to a file in Access 2000 with all your forms and queries. This would allow you to have a front end on both platforms but still have the Access 97 Back-End
Thanks for all your help. What I will do is what evalesthy suggested since I have already developed the database in 2000 format but my work only has 1997 format. This way I won't have to make the tables all over again in 1997 version.
If the 2000 version is converted into 1997 will it allow me to add new features, etc. using 1997 or would have to make the upgrades to the 2000 version and convert once again?
To the best of my knowledge once you have converted A2k database to Acc97 you can then do your future work in 97. I'm not sure I have ever tried that - but you could verify it with a quick test.
