Okay, this is kind of convoluted, but hopefully someone's heard of this.

I have a spreadsheet (sheet name: report) I created in excel 2003. In cell report.a1 I have a logo (image file). Then in another column, cells report.AT12 to report.AT509 I have a data validation setup. The validation is looking at another worksheet (sheet name: validation), cells validation.A1 to validation.A2 designated as list "valid". These cells hold validation.a1="y" and validation.a2="n".

Someone opened my file in excel 2007, made some edits (that they now cannot recollect), and then saved the file. Then they re-opened the file and resaved it as an excel 2003 file, and redistributed it.

Here's the interesting thing. Now, when a person opens the file, the image in report.a1 is gone. It reappears in EVERY validation drop down however. The logo does not appear anywhere else on the file, not even on the validation spreadsheet. After much testing, I've found that I can delete the logo from the validation drop down in one cell, and it disappears for all validation drop downs, and is removed totally from the file.

The only other thing that I've noticed of interest on the file is that while no additional data was added through this process, the file size following all of this increased about 15%. That could be some of the formatting stuff, but I can't be sure. We're talking about 70KB, which seems like alot of space for formatting.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't use excel 2007, so I'm unaware of any entanglements that may have.

Restore from backup is the first thing I would do...

If you don't know the changes, they can't be valid. Chances are you at least have it in your recycle bin from the update.
