Hello all:

There are about 25 different data types available for selection when objects are created... is there a document that lists each one and some description

For instance, TEXT can hold upto 2 billion characters but cannot be used defining variables whereas CHAR can hold upto a maximium of 8,000 characters

I have tried to several knowledgebase sites with "DATA TYPE" but nothing is being returned

Happy holidays

Use the Books OnLine, go to the Index tab, enter Transact-SQL, data types

Scroll down in the right window and you will see a list of data types. Depending on which you want to know more about, enter that in the Index tab text window.

Or you can just enter data types-SQL Server in the Index tab search.
