Hello at all,

during my research in google i found this forum with very interesting topics. So maybe someone of you can help me.

I want to receive signal datas from a scope to my notebook. I use a Tektronix 4054 scope with Ethernet connection. I downloaded a Software (SignalExpress) which fullfill my aim. But I want to do this without this software!

So my first idea was to use a Sniffer (Wireshark) to see what kind of protocol is used for transmission the data from scope to my notebook. So I can see all packets which are used.
The Software uses layer 6 (VXI-11) in which the data is inserted, layer 5 (RPC) for remote calls and transported with TCP over layer 4.

With this informations I want to use now a Ethernet Packet Builder to recreate this packets. So I can send them to the scope to receive the signal sequences (data) without the software.

I don´t want to use the software (signal express) because I want to use a gateway (with microcontroller) between the Notebook and the scope. This packets should be implemented in the microcontroller (MC), so the MC can communicate with the scope and send calls to receive data from the scope.

Can someone tell me a good Ethernet Packet Builder, which provides vxi-11 and rpc?? Or how can I solve this problem?

Thanks & greetings Micaela
