Hello,

We have a Win2k SP3 Server, and a very nice NW5.1 SP5 Tree with 12 servers.

The Win2k server recieves data throughout the day from a mainframe and places it into a designated directory for maniuplation.

What we require is a nice peice of software which will monitor the directory for when data arrives and automaticaly transfer it to one of our NW5.1 servers. This should happen without any user intervention. This is required as unfortunatly the mainframe software does not support NW5.1 and apparently never will :-(

Now I know packages such as CuteFtp and WSFtp Pro have this kind of function, but are they able to authenticate to a NW5.1 server? Or has somebody got another package that will achieve this, possibly with NW5.1 server picking up the files from the Win2k.

THe Win2k server has no NW Client installed and the onsite preference is not to do this. HOw ever I am always open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Octavius

You could always put MS Client Services for NetWare onto your W2k server. This does not change the login GUI but will allow you to use the NET USE command to authenticate to NetWare servers. Syntax is:

NET USE \\SERVER\VOLUME\DIRECTORY /USER:.USERNAME.CONTEXT PASSWORD

Instead of typing the password as indicated above, you could replace it with a * which will automatically prompt for the password. -----------------------------------------------------

Your answer is ZENWorks. Zen for servers does what you want and more.

Also, you should be licensed for NFAP, install it and you will not have to deal with any other client on your Windows box other than M$'s. You may need to talk to your local channel partner to get a copy, I was not able to find a download for it (just service packs).
