data source changes CE 8.5 CR 8.5

I am using CE 8.5 java SDK windows 2000. I used the java IReportlogon to change the username and password and server info in the code. but when i try to Preview it in CMC it still shows me the original data source and prompts me for logon. how do i change the original data source in the report
using java SDK..
any ideas? Thanks in advance

PS : I was building a customtool to promote reports from DEV to TEST to PROD etc when i ran into this problem..
I want to be able to change the datasource in the reports on the fly..based on the APS I am promoting to..
