I am using a spreadsheet that was sent to me. I use the Data -->Sort function
I then select sort by Load ID, Ascending, and no other selections.
It returns the items ordered as follows;

58228
58289
58355
58404
58489
58514
58541
58566
58611
58635
58683
58688
58857
56815
58214
58214
58221
58221
58221
58222
58222
58223
58223
58224
58225
58226
58230

It's a lot longer list but that gives an idea what's happening. What am I overlooking here that is causing this problem?

This is the result you'd get if some of the cells (in your list, from 56815 to the bottom) are stored as text fields.

If you highlight this column, right-click and select "Format Cells..." - on the Number tab, what Category is selected for that column? General? Number? Time?...

Have fun.

Enter a [red]1[/red] in an unused cell.

COPY this cell.

Select all the DATA in the column of numbers.

Edit > Paste Special - MULTIPLY

Now SORT.

VOLA!

Skip,
