Data session window refreshing

I've recently installed VFP9 and am finding that the data session window doesn't refresh itself (or doesn't get refreshed) automatically, which certainly did happen in VFP8.

Has anyone else found this happening? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks

Stewart

Stewart,
I've been using VFP 9.0 for a very long time, and I've never seen that happen. Any chance it's not displaying the current datasession? Is your datasession window docked?

Rick

Thanks for your reply Rick,

I never change data sessions (at least not that I'm aware of). Yes the window is docked.

I find that if I click back on the command window and then on to the data session window, it is then refreshed.

It most often happens when I run a (any) program that opens various tables.

Ooh, how exciting[wink], nice to know I'm not imagining things!!

Do you (or anyone else) know if MS know about it?

Stewart

Marcia,
Well either I'm not as observant, or I'm just lucky! :)

Rick

Yes, I've seen this behavior as well with the Data Session window. And, not that your question was directed at me Marcia, but I'm looking forward to SouthWest Fox. Should be a great conference.

Marcia,

Did you check with Andy if he had reported it to MS? There's no mention of it in the UT Bug List.

I had thought of going to SouthWest Fox, but decided I couldn't really afford the $2000+ it would cost.

Stewart

Hi Craig.

I'm looking forward to SouthWest Fox.

Great! I am looking forward to seeing you there!

Hi Stewart.

There's no mention of it in the UT Bug List.

Why would there be? Andy reported it as a bug during the beta on 12-11-2004 on build 2409 of VFP. It was entered into the bug tracking database then.

I found out that you can get the list of open work areas by right-clicking in the left hand column of the session window.

Thought you might like to know as I was very pleased to find that.

Stewart

Because in VFP9 it doesn't get updated properly, so you might run a program and then look at the data session window and see nothing in the left column. I found by accident that if you right-click in the left column, it then shows all the open work areas.

Stewart

Stewart,

Thanks for the clarification. Whenever I've see this behaviour (the window now refreshing properly), I've managed to get it to refresh by a normal click (left click). But it's worth knowing that the right-click in cases where the normal click doesn't do the trick.

Mike
