Data Recovery software

Can anyone recommendsome good software to recover a disk that has become corrupt. During the insatll of a new OS the secon ddisk has lost it's volume information.

Another great one which I've had tons of success with is "Recover My Files".

I saw that one but I need to buy it and I was hoping for a free solution. I did download the demo and it does at least show me my files so I know it could work.

I got hold of Knoppix and it sees the fiels and I can copy them off the problem disk th eonly thig I need to do not is fine somewhete to copy them to.
