Hey folks, I was trying to transfer a fortran program (designed for AIX) to linux (Gfotran) However after processing the same set of data, the ouput is 46.5% higher in linux..

any suggestions?.

Do you know what the differences are? Is it just newlines and extra digits?

For instance, if the program did a print *, x. How many digits does AIX print and how many does gfortran print.

Try transferring the AIX output to Linux and do a meld or gvim -d to see the differences.

yes, do a manual/visual diff (tkdiff) first...you can't rely on size or, worst, md5sum for a drastic transfer like that.

It maybe that one program prints numbers less than 1 without a zero on the left of the decimal point or the default number of decimals is different, etc.
