I am creating a catalog using Indesign CS2 and data merge. My issue is with the images. I do not want them to center, I want them to align to bottom. Any idea of how to do this automatically?

Thanks

Before you create the image frame and insert an image into an image frame just select the image frame icon in the tool bar.

Now in

Object> frame fitting options.

Set the refference point to the bottom middle, and Fit the content proportionally.

Now every time you create an image frame it will stick to those rules.

You can change this at any time, but do it before you create any image frame.

Ok.. maybe I am missing something here... I did as you suggested, I was not clicked on anything on the document, then went to the tools, clicked on the image frame, went to object. There is nothing there about "frame fitting options" there is a "text frame option" to choose, but that does not work.

I am using Indesign CS2, would that make a difference?

I have screen shot what I am talking about... Object>Fitting>Frame Fitting Options is not there. Can I email it to you?

...frame fitting options is a CS3 feature only, not CS2...

...so far as CS2, you can, which goes some way to help in a workflow, to set one up, then press:

command/control + alt/option + 4

...this is a transform sequence command, under the object > transform again...

Andrew

...with a bit of thought, you could get to the point where they are all at least centred, (transform sequence on multiple selected frames), then shift one down to the bottom, and again select remaining frames and apply a transform again command...

...of course, this is largely dependant on image size and remaining space left between top and bottom of frame, if they are all the same size images in the same size frames, then this would work pretty well for example...

Andrew

..bear in mind when i say select remaining frames and shift one down to the bottom, i mean you would have to have the image frame selected not the container frame...

Andrew

Sorry. I upgraded to CS3 a while ago, it's far superior in my opinion to CS2. It has greatly increased my productivity.
