Is it possible to have one report that retrieves data from a “flat file” on a network drive and from an Oracle table? We would not have to merge the data from both sources.

On the report there will be categories or sub headings. Under each category the data would either be retrieved from the flat file or from the oracle database.

You can use different data sources in a report. You'd have to join the data or use a subreport. In either case you're sort of merging it.

Consider building an MS Access database and linking (not importing) both tables into it, then creating a Query for Crystal to use as it's data source.
