I am wanting to put an access database on to the web so that multiple users may access it. I have VI6 on a W2K platform and a downloaded version of the Data Form Wizard. My problem is getting the connection to the database. I have followed directions about "add new item" etc (to the project name) but when it gets to the dialog box that asks for the server name, it either says it cannot be found or that I should check my username and password!! I know that I have access to the server (which incidentally is on a peer machine on a peer-to-peer network) and it is running the IIS server. I know I have access because if I point my browser to I get the default web page.

So what am I doing wrong?? For "Server Name" I'm just putting in "mypeercomputername". Should it be something else? Please help!

Just guessing, but should you enter "\\mypeercomputername"?

I think I tried many combinations like that but it didn't like things like slashes or backslashes, saying that you cannot use "illegal characters" - very helpful. Maybe it's just me but I don't find VI terribly user-friendly!

Thanks for your response and I SHALL try your suggestion again just in case.

Best wishes,

Jim
