I have added several fields to the report from the invoice.detail file and the data shown when I do a preview. As soon as I add a new field from another file such as matter, the existing data shown in preview disappears. When I undo this insert the data shows again. This is happening on many if not all files.

I have tried a report from this same database, that was created on a different workstation and I can add as many different files and fields as I want with no data missing in the preview.

Any ideas? I am using Crystal Reports 9.0 with sp2, xp pro and oracle 8i.

This sounds like a linking issue. If you joined two tables, using an equal join, and there were no matches between the linked fields, adding a field from the second table would result in no records returned. Try changing the link to a left outer from the first table to the new table, and see if the original fields still display. If they do, then you just don't have any matching fields in the second table--or you have linked on the wrong field.

Did the fields themselves disappear, or do they simply have no data? These are 2 very different things.

The fields have data, they are just not showing when a field from a different file is dragged into the preview screen.

Verify the database, see if that helps.
