hi there. I'm using version 7 by the way on an Oracle ODBC. I have a client id as my key. Each client can have 2 or more different name types, however the last name in each row should consistently be the same. However it's not due to data entry errors. I have been playing with the previous and next functions. I'm not quite sure this is the best approach. It works great within that client id but it also compares the last name with the next client id which is what I don't want.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Expand your previous next test to include client key.

If clientkey = previosu client key then
( do your test)
else False

Else can be whatever you want, I just chose false as a possibility.

If you want to display the IDs where there is a mismatch in the name field, then group on ID, and then go to report->selection formula->GROUP and enter:

distinctcount({table.name},{table.ID}) > 1
