I'm having a bit of trouble with an access project I'm working on and hope someone could help.

I have multiple tables all with one to many relationships. I've created a query and was trying to make a form. When I create the form from the query it doesn't let me update, add or do anything.

What am I doing wrong?

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Presumable your query is not updateable. Open query without form and try to make any data change. If it's not possible change your query otherwise look at form properties: allowedits, allowdelete, allow...

The Query is updatable. All the properties for the AllowEdits, AllowDeletions, and AllowAdditions are set to yes. I don't understand. I've even tried to use the tables in the form instead of the Query. Once I put in also same problem. I'm really stumped. I asked a friend of mine to take a look at it last week and she couldn't tell me what's wrong. Any ideas?

Hi.

Stop me if you've heard this one LOL

When you say the properties "AllowEdits, AllowDeletions, and AllowAdditions" are set to "yes"...If you set "Data Entry" to "yes", you can't select any existing records...

I've played turning DataEntry Yes and No and still no luck. Any idea as to why it won't let me edit.

Hi.

Some of this may sound crazy, but,

Why not start over with a new, simpler query, adding one or two fields at a time. Add the same few controls to a new edition of your table. If the table(s) won't update say with 2 or 3 fields, then it should be simple to check out.

If that doesn't work then...

Kind of drastic, but you might want to try this...
Create an empty database. Import into the new db the tables, the query and the form you're having trouble with. See if they still won't update in the virgin db. If the tables still won't update, (in the new and therefore disposable db) rename each table, make sure the query refers to the tables by their new names, rename the form, make sure all controls refer to valid table fields, etc.

If still no update, ask for a day off, think hard about the problem and go to sleep. It often happens to me that when I wake up I know what went wrong, or how to accomplish something that has eluded me. No kidding.

Good luck, happy siesta. |-I Gus Brunston  An old PICKer, using Access2000
