I have used the step by step instructions at to import data from a spreadsheet. However, when I run the package I get an error saying the data in a particular column could be lost, so the extraction stops.

The column is defined as float and nullable. The column in the spreadsheet contains values 1 to 141 or NULL and is formatted as General, so I don't understand why it is complaining.

Anybody seen this and have an idea what could be happening?

Thanks.

any trailing or leading blank spaces? Are the empty values infact NULL or do they possibly have a space or tab in them.

I think I have just sussed this. It happens in a number of numeric columns that have NULL in. If I change the NULLs to 0s the problem goes away.
Perhaps in Excel the 'NULL' in the cell is not null and appears as text to the connection manager.
Not really slick, or conducive to automatic updates from spreadsheets.
