I am seeing a LOT of data connections, be's and bv's created in our business view manager with virtually the same name except for _# being appended such as: busviewxxx_dc_1_1.
How can I determine if a business view and it's components are actually being used by a report?

Every time you create a dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports and then publish that report to BOE XI, you're creating a Business View (along with a Business Element, a Data Foundation and a Connection)
When using Dynamic Parameters, it is good practice to create the necessary BV components and then create a List Of Values object to support your Dynamic Parameters.

I know these are being created by the developer when she publishes, and I know they get created automatically if not already present, however I don't understand why there are so many iterations of what appear to be similar if not identical dataconnections, elements, etc., all with the same name but with the _#'S changing. Are they all part of the same business view or does each set of items grouped by number represent a different business view with all it's components:
dc_1_9
be_1_9
bv_1_9...etc

thanks.

and how do I tell which are actually being used?

I believe that each set grouped by number represents a different BV with all its components.
Your developer ought to choose "Existing" when creating the parameters in CR.

thank you!!! I have been racking my brains trying to figure out 'why and when' these get created...since I walked her through picking 'existing' a few days ago I haven't seen any more getting created, but I didn't really understand that's what was going on.

ah.
