Data changing between records randomly

Hello,

I currently have a database that multiple people use to track vendor sales information.

One form is where the record is added, another form is where information can be edited at a later stage. The second form has a function to search off an invoice number, bringing up the vendor information.

The problem I am facing is that data is being entered into a particular record, but when we come back to that record it doesn't display that information. Instead, that information appears in a seperate unrelated record.

I am also finding that sometimes when you click on a particular field in the record, the data vanishes altogether from that field.

The database has been working for around 18 months now, and the problem has just recently started. I removed a whole lot of data incase there was too much in there.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Andrew

Try the following - if you havent solvet this one yet.

1.
1. Create a new database container.
2. Import all tabels from the old database.
Dont forget your relationships ;-)

2.
1. Compact and repair your database.

Hi Herman, thanks for replying to this as I have still been having problems.

You mentioned importing all the tables. Do I do the same with my queries and forms, or do I need to rebuild these?

Yes import all objects.

However I assumed that you were using a fromt and a backend. If not please do so in order to protect your data best as you can.

Hi Herman,

Thanks for your help! :) Yeah I am using a front and backend.

Cheers.

Andrew, I agree with Herman, I think your db is corrupt. I ran into the same issue with 2 other databases Post-Hurricane Rita. Our IT dpt. was backing up lots of data, then someone apparently decided to change a lot of security protocols. End Result, data was totally whacked!

Another Issue we ran into when we found the same error in a different db, a join on a table was funky and caused some really interested data-integrity Issues.

Also, in agreement with Herman, you should do a compact and repair pretty frequently, dependant on the scope of you db. Its a good idea to just check them everynow and then, you'll notice when things are getting weird. 2GB is the limit, but you'll start having issues long before you get there. Good Luck!! :)

Rich.

Thanks for that CptCristy.

I am not sure yet if that has fixed it Herman as the problem was intermittent. I will need to wait while the users try it over the next few days to a week to see if anymore problems arise! Fingers crossed.
