I have a form that displays personnel data with the start and end dates of their work term. What I would like to do is notify someone who accesses the form if the end date on any of the records is the current or past date via a pop up or something to that effect. How would I do this? Thanks.

You may consider conditional formatting on the end date control.

Hope This Helps, PH.

How would I do that? I'm kinda a newbie when it comes to Access. Thanks.

Cero,

Do you mean *any* of the records, or just the currently displayed record?

If only the current one then, as PHV advised, conditional formatting is an easy solution (although I have had a few minor glitches with this in the past with A2K - it may be sorted in later versions of Access).

If you mean you want the form to check *all* records and display a notification if any of them satisfy the criteria you specified you'll have to delve into a little coding.

Let me know and I'll post examples of what you need.

To apply conditional formatting to a field:

1. Open the form in form view, not design view.
2. Click in the field you want to apply formatting to.
3. Got to Format > Conditional Formatting...
4. Specify condition(s) and resultant formats accordingly (it's fairly straight forwrd).

Ed2020:

Yes I'm looking for an alarm to check *all* the records at once and if any of them at on or past the current date the user will recieve a notification.

I would appreciated the examples you mentioned. Thanks.

Oh, btw I realized I should have named the Topic "Date Alarms" verus data.
