If you are running CV7 and SP2 I discovered something today that you might be interested in. CV tried to tell me that I must be the only one with this issue otherwise their phones would be ringing off the hook. But when they looked at their own lab environment they saw the same thing.

So in the CommCell Browser, right click your CommServe and go to All Tasks > Schedules. Find your Data Aging job and open it. Look at the 2nd tab (Aging Options) and report here if it is set to Age All or Age Granular.

It looks like SP2 sets this to Age Granular and therefore very little actually happens when data aging runs. Please report here what you find.

PS SP3 was apparently unleashed on the public yesterday.

Interesting.
Having SP2 with some additional patches here it is indeed set to granular.

It may be set to granular guys but, are all clients selected...if so then you should be ok

Discovering this yesterday my experience was that since it mystically made the change to granular, newly installed clients are not selected and therefore you are not, by default, OK.

I actually made the intial call to CV because I noticed that data was not being aged properly recently. It was just random clicking around that led us to discover this change to the granular setting and there I found several newly installed clients that were not included to have their data aged.

We set it to age all and ran a data aging job and sure enough, 6 tapes became scratch and a several terrabytes on my magnetic storage became available.

Hi People,
I am new to TEk_tip...
I installed simpana 7 in november 2007... sp1...
I LOST... 5 months of my mail system (groupwise) aux copies... I had to recreate completely to aux copy in order to have any jobs selected again for aux copying... AND Commvault says We're sorry... you're the only one that has this problem...
Anybody else?
