Having got EPO 3 up and running as far as deploying VirusScan Ent 7 I thought I'd bring the mailservers under its control too, so I set some groupshield policies and added the exchange servers to a group.

It worked like a charm.

Unfortunately, when the DAT was updated it started blocking file extensions that had previously been allowed (doc, rtf, zip, etc.). Basically, it seemed to reset to the default list of blocked extensions.

The first time this happened I put it down to a freak occurrence and just reset my policies the way I wanted. It happened again at the next DAT update. :(

I've tried a few searches at their knowledge base but, at the time of writing, have yet to find anything.

Have any of you guys had this problem?

Nothing went wrong at the next DAT update. Still no idea what happened but such is life, eh. :)

I've had several similar problems but not related to the dat update. I maintain Groupshield policies at the Directory level in EPO. Someone decided to change some files being blocked at a server level and turned off inheritance. When that happened, they changed some things they were supposed to change - not the least of which was file blocking.

how do/did you update the dats on v6.0 ??

I tried an Immediate task and it failed

thanks
