Hi

Is there anyway to setup Datasource credentials mapping per user in Cognos 8? My background is Business Objects. In BO XI you are able to set Datasource Credtials per user (on User's Properties). You can then setup a connection properties authenticate mode to use 'Business Objects credentials mapping'. So when that person runs's a report they authenticate to the database with a particlar login. This login mave own views on the data...

How do I replicte this is Cognos 8?

Thanks.

Cognos8 allows for multiple connections for each datasource. You can set properties for each connection and then authorize the use of a specific connection. If a user is authorized for just 1 connection no prompting should occur. With multiple connections he/she will need to make a choice at runtime..

I have created multiple signons under one connection. One sign on is the owner of all the tables, the other has views of the tables. I have tested it in SQL Server Query Analyser logging in with the owner of the view and it works. When I run a Cognos report it gives using the signon which can only see the Views I get the following error:

UDA-SQL-0043 The underlying database detected an error during processing the SQL request. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]SELECT permission denied on object 'tperson', database 'tlive', owner 'xxxxxxx'.
