Hi,

Does anyone know of a .dat viewer, suitable program or method so we can collect internet usage of our employees, ie websites times, dates. We are led to believe by managers that its being misused, and we cant lock them down due to them requiring internet access for work purposes.
And dont wanna set up certain websites as this would affect people on breaks and lunches but this would be the last resort.
I have tried a few .dat viewers but it doesnt show dates and times and we are trying to create a policy but we need a global picture of what really is happening.
I spose I could get a copy of each internet history and temp files but was looking for a easy more professional method.

Any ideas or help would be gratefully appriciated.

Cheers

If I were you I would do a free trial of SurfControl for the trial period. That would give you a briliant picture of what is going on.

Depending on how many users you actually have and how you're connected to the internet, a better solution might be to set up a proxy server. Then there would be a central point to monitor and control web browsing by the client machines. A proxy server would also work, no matter what browser the clients are using; the IE History viewer that you're looking for will only work for users using IE and you'd have to visit every machine indvidually.

thank you for your suggestions, ill see which one works best

cheers
